Ongoing dialogue with stakeholders

In Veidekke, all business entities in all three countries work continuously to maintain an open dialogue with our stakeholders, as an integrated part of their day-to-day business. Our main stakeholders are students, scientists, employees, journalists, investors, customers and cooperating partners.

At any one time, the activities of the Veidekke Group consist of around a thousand ongoing projects throughout Scandinavia. We are present in the everyday lives of many people, both directly as a supplier, customer or employer, and more indirectly, as a part of the local community in which we operate.

Good communication is a key factor of success

Every building project has its unique challenges. In built-up areas, noise and dust levels may be relevant issues, whereas in other places, biodiversity and protected natural areas may be the main challenge. These unpredictable working conditions, in which we are constantly facing new challenges in different local projects, require a high degree of openness and dialogue with the surrounding community. We know from experience that good communication is a key factor of success in our industry, and therefore, interaction is integral to the operation of Veidekke. A good dialogue helps us improve our total risk situation by making it easier to locate, monitor and solve potential problems before they escalate to major business challenges.

Steady level of recruitment is vital – even in bad times

One of Veidekke's three specified priority areas within corporate social responsibility is to ensure a steady level of recruitment to the industry – an effort which is particularly important in an industry as sensitive to market fluctuations as ours. Experiences from previous crises in the industry show that it is necessary to take a long-term approach to recruitment of key personnel, even in bad times, to avoid the risk of being set back several years the day the economic situation turns around.
