Available and open towards the media

Veidekke has developed special crisis management plans for handling serious, unforeseen events. These plans describe precautions and reactions in the event of an emergency, i.e. a serious incident where different groups in society have expectations of how Veidekke should handle the situation. The media will play an important role in this situation, and the main principles for our contact with the media are rooted in our policy, which has four main elements: To be available, open, correct and consistent. In the coming year, we will arrange a major emergency exercise based on an imaginary crisis scenario. The purpose of this exercise is to test the organisation's response to a serious and complex incident in which Veidekke plays a central part – and to gain valuable practice in handling such a situation. All experience goes to show that such exercises make the organisation better prepared for any serious incidents which may occur.

Proactive contact with journalists

In our day-to-day contact with journalists, we aim to be as proactive as possible, and we will work continuously to acquire knowledge and experience as to how the media operate and develop. Veidekke either contacts the media directly by issuing press releases and fact sheets, or replies to enquiries from them on matters of interest. Through electronic media monitoring and press cuttings from all over Scandinavia, we keep up to date on what is being written about Veidekke and our business areas. In this way, we are able to offer the necessary corrections or additional information if we find that information is not being presented correctly.
