Veidekke and REMA become partners at Bjørvika

The partnership between Veidekke Eiendom and REMA Eiendom Øst involves the purchase and development of a larger parcel of land at the waterfront nearby the Oslo Opera House. The goal is to create a complex with 200 residential dwellings, restaurants and a large shop with convenience goods. The seller was Hav Eiendom AS, with the purchase sum comprising NOK 280 million.

Attractive parcel of land
The parcel of land itself bears the designation "D1a" and is slightly over 1.6 acres in size (0.65 hectares). It is situated at the heart of the so-called Sørenga at Bjørvika, directly next to the planned Kongsbakken park area. Approx. 2,500 people will be living on Sørenga once the project is fully developed. In addition, the parcel is situated in the vicinity of areas that will become densely populated such as Bispevika and Grønlia.

"This is an extremely attractive parcel of land, where we can develop a good residential environment by the waterfront and the Opera House at a central location in Oslo. We hope to start selling the residences in one year's time, with the first occupancies occurring during the summer of 2015," says project manager Knut Ørn Collett of Veidekke Eiendom.

Joint ownership
The land was purchased by Veidekke Eiendom AS and REMA Eiendom Øst AS, which is wholly owned by Reitan Eiendom AS. Both companies have a 50% stake in the project. The total developed area will comprise 22,500 m2 of usable floor area, of which 17,500 m2 will be for residential dwellings and a maximum of 5,000 m2 will be for commercial purposes.
