Today Veidekke Entreprenør AS signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to build a 9.6 km stretch of classified road 2 between Kongsvinger and Slomarka. The value of the contract is NOK 566 million excluding VAT.
Classified road 2 is to be upgraded to a four-lane road between Kløfta and Kongsvinger. The new contract comprises building a 9,620 m stretch of road between Slomarka and Fulu in Sør-Odal municipality. This is the second major contract Veidekke has won for classified road 2 in the area: In August last year the company was awarded the contract to build the 4.6 km section between Kurudsand and Gulli in Kongsvinger municipality.
The new stretch will take a new route next to the current classified road 2. The project comprises a four-lane road with a width of 16.5 metres, including a central reserve with barrier and shoulders. The road includes three bridges 70, 40 and 20 metres in length respectively, and four flyovers approx. 50 metres in length. The new road project also includes two two-level intersections with park and ride parking; one at the Slomarka intersection and one at the Leikvang intersection (Sander).
Construction start for the main work is planned for August, and work is to be completed in September 2014.
