Veidekke to build biogas plant in Nes municipality

Cambi AS has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør AS the contract to build the EGE biogas plant, which is a biogas plant for Oslo municipality, Energigjenvinningsetaten (EGE) [Energy Recycling Department]. Veidekke's contract has a value of NOK 113 million excluding VAT.

Veidekke has entered into a turnkey subcontractor contract with Cambi, which is the main supplier of the biogas plant to EGE. Veidekke will plan and carry out construction work for Cambi on the project.

Veidekke and Cambi have cooperated on the project since the spring of 2010 in order to arrive at a good concept for the biogas plant. A phase of detailed planning is currently under way in preparation for starting construction in July this year. The plant will be ready to receive waste on 20 December 2012.

The biogas plant is to be built in Nes municipality in Akershus. The plant, which will have an area of 3,760 square metres, will have the capacity to process 50,000 tons of food waste annually. The plant will produce sufficient biogas to operate around 135 buses. In addition the plant will produce around 27,000 tons of organic fertilizer for agriculture, corresponding to the requirements of around 100 normal-sized farms.

The total price for the biogas plant from Cambi to EGE is NOK 350 million excluding VAT. Veidekke's deliveries to Cambi constitute NOK 113 million excluding VAT.
