“We are incredibly grateful to Bane NOR Eiendom for this exciting commission. Together with the client, consultants and subcontractors, we have come through a very good development phase that will guarantee a superb building and construction process. We are now looking forward to getting to work on the detailed design after the summer holidays, and starting construction in 2023,” says Torgeir Wiig, regional director for Veidekke Bygg Trøndelag.

The new Trondheim Central Station will have a total floor area of 17,500 m2 across eight storeys. The terminal building will comprise approx. 4,500 m2 while some 13,000 m2 will serve as attractive office space affording magnificent views of the city and fjord. The terminal building will be above the tracks, and the construction process will take place without any interruption to train services. The parts of the building that will span the rails will be built on a modular basis allowing for rapid assembly on site. The building across the tracks will serve as a vantage point and provide a connection between the city centre and the port. The design has taken into account a number of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

“Together with Veidekke, we have developed a proud that we are proud of. This is a demanding project that must be planned rigorously to ensure that trains can continue to operate as normal and that passengers are not impeded during the construction phase. We are very pleased with the support and expertise that Veidekke has provided us with to date, and we are looking forward to pursuing this project together with them,” says Arne Hognestad, project director at Bane NOR Eiendom.

Construction work will start in January 2023 and the building is scheduled for completion by November 2025. Read more about the project at https://www.trondheimsentralstasjon.no/ The contract is included in Veidekke's order backlog for Q1 2022.
