Kollektivtransportproduksjon AS (KTP AS) has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør AS the contract to build the new metro station at Gjønnes in Bærum municipality. The value of the contract is NOK 113 million excluding VAT.

KTP AS is upgrading the Kolsåsbanen line in Bærum to metro standard on the Jar to Kolsås stretch. Among other things, this entails that the platforms are lengthened to approx. 120 metres in order to service 6 carriage train sets, all crossings are to have flyovers and conductor rails are to be installed on the sleepers in conformity with the remaining metro network in Oslo.

Work includes building a new 720 metre track line with substructure and superstructure, a new station in compliance with metro standard, new technical facility and new park-and-ride parking for approx. 200 cars. Included in the contract is a culvert beneath the tracks for access to the Gjønnesparken housing project and a new bridge for Bærumsveien, which is being built for Bærum municipality.

The project will commence in May 2011 and is to be completed in August 2012.
